Elijah Craig 21 Single Barrel
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Bourbon
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 45%
Score: 90 Points
Another limited-edition Elijah Craig on the heels of the sold out 2012 release of a 20-year-old single barrel version. Until this release, the only way to get a 21-year-old Elijah Craig — let alone a single barrel release — was to visit the Heaven Hill Bourbon Heritage Center in Bardstown, Kentucky.
The nose is classic Bourbon, rich with oak, leather, vanilla, and allspice notes. The taste reminds me of a smoky, tangy barbecue sauce with cilantro and chili powder spices that fade to reveal caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, and just a hint of maple. The finish is long and smooth with subtle spices and hints of brown sugar and caramel. (August, 2013)
