The Glenlivet Alpha
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 50%
Score: 93 Points
While the details on casks, etc. won’t be revealed until mid-June, this is a very interesting departure from The Glenlivet’s regular expressions. The nose has notes of grilled pineapple, cedar chips, lemongrass, vanilla, and honey. The taste is thick, chewy, and very fruity with grilled pineapple and mango notes, orange peel and a touch of lemon along with honey and vanilla underneath. As the fruitiness starts to fade, subtle spicy notes of ginger and allspice become apparent. The finish is long and fruity with coconut and lingering notes of pineapple, mango, and passion fruit.
