Lochside bottlings are rare, but well worth seeking out. This one spent 44 years in an ex-Sherry butt, and the nose has a citrusy tartness with lemon peel, coconut, vanilla, a hint of nuttiness, and no traces of oak despite the age. The taste is tart with lemon, grapefruit, and mango fruity notes balanced well by cinnamon and touches of clove, coconut, and vanilla notes. The finish is long and tart with grapefruit and lemon peel balanced by a touch of clove. Excellent! (February, 2013)
