William Larue Weller 2015 Bourbon. Image courtesy Buffalo Trace. This is part of the 2015 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, and as always, is an uncut and unfiltered Bourbon made with a wheat-focused mashbill. The nose is medicinal with a note of iodine on top and caramel, fudge, and muted spices that are overwhelmed by the iodine touch. The taste is thick, syrupy, and intensely spicy with cinnamon, white pepper, clove, and a hint of anise in the background. The finish is short, dry and astringent with lingering touches of anise and clove. (September, 2015)
