The Glenlivet Nàdurra First Fill. Image courtesy The Glenlivet/Chivas Brothers. This cask-strength Glenlivet was matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, and the nose is fruity and floral with subtle spices, a nice maltiness, honey, vanilla, and red apples. The taste is dry, astringent, and spicy with a cinnamon and clove bite that blasts the palate, then fades to reveal hints of lemon zest, vanilla, honey, and a hint of anise. Water brings out additional notes of dark chocolate and ginger snap cookies. The finish is lingering and dry with gently fading spices. (January, 2016)
