Laphroaig Lore. Image courtesy Laphroaig/Beam Suntory. While this Laphroaig carries no age statement, it uses virtually every type of cask Laphroaig matures its whisky in – from small quarter-casks all the way through ex-Bourbon barrels to large Sherry butts.

The nose has a hint of maple, a soft smokiness, malt, heather, and a touch of vanilla. The taste starts off light and thin, followed by a blast of smoke, creosote, cinnamon, and tar with underlying vanilla and oak notes in the background. The finish is long and smoky with lingering spices. (April, 2016)
