Kilchoman 2008 Vintage. Image courtesy Kilchoman Distillery. This is the first seven-year-old vintage from Kilchoman, and was matured in ex-Bourbon casks from Buffalo Trace. The nose is light and citrusy with lemon zest, butterscotch, salt water taffy, honey, vanilla, dried flowers, and a nice maltiness. The taste is fruity and floral, but with a nice touch of smoke and grilled pineapple, butterscotch, honey, vanilla, and a hint of cinnamon that leads into the finish, which has lingering spices and a gentle smokiness with a touch of citrus tartness.
