Sonoma Cherrywood Smoked Bourbon. Photo ©2019, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This California Bourbon is distilled from a mashbill of 67% corn, 20% rye, and 13% cherrywood smoked malted barley. The nose has notes of cherry cobbler, allspice, vanilla, honey, and just a hint of wood smoke. That smokiness comes out on the palate as spicy notes of allspice and ginger root start to fade, while vanilla, caramel cola, and cocoa powder add balance in the background. The finish lingers nicely with hints of spices balanced well by the sweeter notes from the palate. (January, 2019)
