Roe & Co. Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Diageo. This is Diageo’s return to the Irish Whiskey market, and uses sourced Irish whiskies in an interesting blend. The nose is light and flora with rose petals, lemon custard, and a hint of fresh berries. The taste is creamy and slightly tart at first with lemon pepper and pineapple notes, followed by touches of clove and allspice balanced by berries and honey. The finish is long with lingering spices and hints of dried flowers, peaches, and apricots. This whiskey has a good overall balance and complexity, and while it was blended with cocktails in mind, it’s just as enjoyable on its own. (October, 2017)
