Rock Oyster 18. Image courtesy Douglas Laing & Co.This 18-year-old blended malt from Douglas Laing’s “Remarkable Regional Malts” range is made with single malts from Arran, Jura, Highland Park, and Laphroaig distilleries, and the nose has notes of sea salt, lemon zest, butterscotch, toasted oak, and a kiss of smoke. The taste has lemon pepper tartness and spice balanced by hints of smoke, sea salt, and smoked salmon. The finish is long with a citrusy tartness and a hint of brine. Very nice! (January, 2018)
