Old Overholt Bonded Rye

Country: USA

Region: Kentucky

Type: Rye Whiskey

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 50%

Score: 90 Points

Old Overholt Bonded Rye. Image courtesy Beam Suntory. As with all “bottled-in-bond” American whiskies, this rye is at least four years old, the product of a single distilling season at a single distillery (Jim Beam in Clermont, Kentucky), and bottled at 50% ABV. The nose has good spicy notes of clove, cardamom, pipe tobacco, old wet leather, and vanilla. The taste is spicy and mouth-filling with clove, cinnamon, cardamom, honey, vanilla, and a subtle touch of dried fruits underneath. The finish is long and spicy. Nice! (February, 2018)
