Old Forester 2018 Birthday Bourbon. Image courtesy Old Forester/Brown-Forman.This year’s edition comes from a single day’s distilling on June 9, 2006, and at 50.5% ABV, is the strongest edition of the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon yet. The nose has notes of orange peel, caramel, pipe tobacco, black cherries, muted spices, and a touch of almonds. The taste is fruity with green apples, lemon zest, and a soft and gradual buildup of ginger root and allspice notes along with hints of honey and green tea in the background. The finish is long and subtle with touches of green tea, honey, and a hint of mint leaves. (September, 2018)
