Jameson IPA Edition Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Jameson/Irish Distillers. This is a sequel to the original Caskmates Stout Edition produced in conjunction with the Franciscan Well Brewery in Cork, Ireland. As with the original, Franciscan Well took used Midleton Distillery barrels to age their Irish Pale Ale beer, then sent the casks back to the distillery to be refilled with Jameson. The nose is hoppy and honey-sweet, along with a nice oakiness and notes of fudge, caramel, and wet straw. The taste has a nice hoppy bite, along with a hint of baked oranges, honey, caramel, fudge, subtle spices, and a hint of licorice in the background. The finish is long and hoppy with a touch of baking chocolate. (November, 2017)
