Deanston 12 Years Old. Image courtesy Distell. Deanston owner Distell (formerly Burn Stewart Distillers) made the decision a while back to change its 12-year-old single malt a bit by raising the bottling proof and eliminating the chill-filtering. Good move! The nose on this single malt has a good maltiness with notes of orange marmalade, straw and roasted almonds. The taste is fruity with hints of lemon and black tea, honey, dried flowers, and touches of oak and almonds. The finish lingers nicely with a good fruitiness and a hint of caramel candy.
