Copperworks American Single Malt. Image courtesy Copperworks Distilling. This single malt from Seattle’s Copperworks Distillery is matured for 30 months in new American Oak casks. The nose has notes of dark chocolate, caramel, molasses, a good maltiness, and a hint of roasted almonds. The taste is dark, oaky, and spicy with strong black pepper and cinnamon spices, woody tannins, and touches of blackberries and licorice. The finish is short and slightly harsh with a lot of tannins, licorice, and blackberries. (December, 2016)
