Bunnahabhain Toiteach a Dhà. Photo ©2019, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. The name means “Smoky Two” in Scots Gaelic, and this bottling replaces the original Toiteach in the Bunnahabhain lineup. Like the original, this is a heavily peated (by Bunnahabhain standards) whisky with a strong influence from ex-Sherry casks. The nose is peaty and slightly medicinal, with notes of salted caramel, honey, toffee, and vanilla. The taste is tart, briny, and smoky with lemon pepper, clove, toffee, and a touch of salted caramel. The finish is long and smoky with a good balance of smokiness, brine, and spices. A worthy successor to the original Toiteach! (February, 2019)
