Bladnoch Talia. Image courtesy Bladnoch Distillery. This 25-year-old Lowland single malt was blended from three different types of casks maturing at the distillery under two previous owners, then finished in new oak casks. The nose has notes of beeswax, honeycomb, lemon furniture polish, crystallized ginger, vanilla, green apples, and a hint of pencil shavings. The taste is very oily, viscous, dark, and fruity with blood oranges, plums, a hint of clove, honey, and vanilla. The finish is long with a citrusy tartness and a hint of clove that sticks to the tongue and lasts for a while, with just a hint of honey in the background for balance. Excellent! (March, 2017)
