Black Friday 2017 Edition. Image courtesy Elixir Distillers.Don’t try to find this one – except perhaps at an auction site. Just 582 bottles were produced from a single ex-Sherry cask from an undisclosed Speyside distillery for sale through The Whisky Exchange on “Black Friday” in November, and every one was sold within a couple of hours.

The nose has notes of dried fruits with apricot, apples, banana chips, and orange marmalade, along with subtle spices, a nice oakiness, and a touch of licorice that comes out over time. The taste is fruity and intense with Christmas cake, allspice, ginger, orange marmalade, a touch of clover honey, and toasted oak. The finish is long with baked fruits and a soft oakiness. Excellent!
