Balcones Texas Single Malt Single Barrel #4749

Country: USA

Region: Texas

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 64%

Score: 91 Points

This French Oak-matured single barrel was released in July, 2017 after 38 months of maturation, and is the oldest single malt whisky Balcones has released so far. The nose has notes of roasted almonds, charred oak, touches of plums and figs, shoe leather, and a hint of cedar shavings. The taste is spicy and intense with touches of clove, allspice, black tea and honey, and a note of molasses cookies that comes out as the spices start to fade. The finish is long and dry with fading spices and touches of black tea and shoe leather to complement the molasses cookies. Excellent! (July, 2017)
