Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Cask. Image courtesy Tullibardine. The 228 refers to the 228 litres of whisky that the Burgundy wine casks used to finish this single malt can hold, and the nose has a Beef Bourguignon-like brothy note to it, along with notes of vanilla, lemon zest, red wine, and hints of clove and cilantro. The taste is thick and tart with lemon zest, black pepper and clove spices, a touch of broth, red grapes, and a hint of grapefruit. The finish is long and tart with touches of black pepper and clove that linger well. (April, 2014)
