The Macallan Gold

Country: Scotland

Region: Speyside

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 40%

Score: 87 Points

The Macallan Gold. Image courtesy The Macallan. This 1824 Series single malt has a nose full of lemon and orange citrus notes balanced by vanilla, hints of honey and dark chocolate. The taste has orange peel balanced by cinnamon, ginger, honey, and a hint of oak, with a note of green apples that comes out as the spices fade. The finish is dry, sweet, and malty, but a bit on the tart side as well. (May, 2013)
