The Glenrothes Peated Cask Reserve. Image courtesy The Glenrothes. No, they didn’t start making peated spirit at The Glenrothes. This unique expression uses casks that were previously used to mature an Islay single malt, and the result combines the traditional distillery character of The Glenrothes with a nice smokiness.

The nose is smoky, but with a good balance of honey, lemon zest, figs, vanilla, and brown sugar. The taste is smoky and tart with notes of grilled peaches, lemon zest, allspice, a hint of clove, and soft oak. The finish is long with a good balance of fruitiness and smoke. (August, 2016)
