The Glenlivet Special Jubilee Reserve 25 Year Old Single Malt. Image courtesy The Whisky Exchange. This is a classic bottling from The Glenlivet – distilled in 1952 and released in 1977 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 25th anniversary on the throne.

The nose is aromatic with notes of vanilla, oak, soft muted spices, lemon zest, and a touch of dark chocolate that comes out over time along with a gentle hint of smoke. The taste is oily and thick with a touch of smoke, oak, hints of lemon zest and grapefruit, butterscotch, coconut, and vanilla notes. The finish is long and lingering with gently fading citrus fruits and the barest hint of oak. Wow! (October, 2014)
