The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch #9. Image courtesy William Grant & Sons. This batch was released exclusively in the United States during the fall of 2013, and the nose has a good oakiness with notes of dried apricots and red apples, figs, red grapes, and a touch of honey. The taste is sharp with a good spicy bite of cardamom, ginger, and clove balanced well by honey, caramel, and molasses sweetness with a hint of fig cookies. The finish is long and smooth with figs, butterscotch, and honey. Excellent! (February, 2014)
