Longrow Red Australian Shiraz Cask Single Malt. Image courtesy Springbank Distillers. Think of this as Longrow times two, since the Shiraz wine casks used for finishing this single malt came from Australia’s Long Row winery. The malt was matured for 6 years in refill ex-Bourbon casks, then transferred to the Shiraz casks for another five years.

The nose has notes of red grapes, soft spices, and a hint of nuttiness. The taste has notes of red grapes, raisins, clove, and cinnamon with touches of honey, nuts, and licorice and a good mouthfeel. The finish is dry and short. (January, 2014)
