Ledaig 18. Photo courtesy Burn Stewart Distillers. Ledaig is the name given to the peated whiskies from Scotland’s Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, and this whisky comes from some of the first peated whiskies distilled at Tobermory in 1996 after it reopened in 1990.

The nose is smoky with grilled fruits, creosote, chili peppers, black pepper, honey, and oak. The taste is thick and spicy with chili powder, orange peel, espresso, hints of brine, and of course, a smoky peatiness. The finish is long and smoky with hints of brine and espresso. (July, 2015)
