Karuizawa 1983 Nepal Appeal

Country: Japan

Region:

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Speciality Drinks Ltd.

ABV: 59%

Score: 94 Points

Only 50 bottles of this whisky were produced, with the proceeds from a special tasting at the 2015 Whisky Show in London to go to charities helping victims of the Nepal earthquakes.

The nose has notes of chocolate cake, fudge, brandy-soaked pears and apples, burnt vanilla, cedar shavings, and hints of hazelnut and nutmeg. The taste is spicy and intense with black pepper, clove, dark chocolate, coffee beans, and hints of sandalwood, cedar, and lemon furniture polish. The finish lingers delicately with touches of pears, apples, gently fading spices, and a hint of pipe tobacco. Amazingly complex! (August, 2015)
