Jura 1984 Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Image courtesy Whyte & Mackay.Just 1,984 bottles were produced of this 30-year-old expression, which came from three different types of Sherry casks: Amoroso, Apostoles Oloroso, and Matusalem. The nose has notes of cooked fruits, figs, banana, prunes, and touches of nuts and nougat. The taste is mouth-puckering, and the spices blast out with notes of clove and white pepper on top of cooked fruits, nuts, marzipan, and toffee. The finish is long, smooth, and dominated by notes of toffee and marzipan. Outstanding! (October, 2014)
