Dry Fly Straight Triticale Whiskey. Image courtesy Dry Fly Distilling.Triticale is a hybrid of rye and wheat that’s been around for more than 125 years, and craft distillers have discovered it as a grain that can bring out the best flavors of both grains. Dry Fly’s take on triticale has a smooth, buttery nose with touches of fresh bread in the oven, citrus tartness, vanilla, and a slight touch of linseed oil. The taste is spicy with a strong cinnamon note dominating the palate and hints of cilantro, rosemary, and raisins underneath. The finish is dry, slightly tart, and lingers nicely. (September, 2015)
