Corsair 100% Rye Whiskey. Image courtesy Corsair Artisan Distillery. Most rye whiskeys aren’t 100% rye…in fact, they just have to be made from at least 51% rye in the mashbill to be called a “straight rye.” This is one of the exceptions.

The nose is smooth, rich, and warm with soft rye spiciness that’s balanced well with honey, caramel, and a touch of oak. The taste builds nicely to an intense pepperiness that fades to reveal honey, caramel, and a hint of milk chocolate. The finish is short and sweet with just the barest hint of spice.  (August, 2013)
