Booker's Bourbon Batch 2016-03 "Toogie's Invitation." Image courtesy Beam Suntory. This batch is nicknamed “Toogie’s Invitation” in honor of Marilyn “Toogie” Dick, a longtime friend of Booker and Annis Noe who frequently traveled with them and helped Fred Noe select this particular batch. The nose is clear from a foot away, with notes of caramel, molasses, brown sugar, fudge, and hints of clove and black pepper. The taste – as might be expected – is intense and syrupy-thick with black pepper, chili powder, and clove notes balanced by molasses, fudge, and caramel with a nice oakiness. The finish is long, aromatic, and spicy. Wow! (August, 2016)
