The Robert Burns Single Malt. Image courtesy Isle of Arran Distillers. This single malt from Arran is the only one authorized by the Robert Burns World Federation to carry the name of the legendary Scottish poet, and is made with a combination of around 70% ex-Bourbon casks and 30% ex-Sherry casks. The nose is malty, floral, and smooth with heather, dried flowers, almonds, and linseed oil. The taste is spicy with white pepper and chili powder, linseed oil, anise, vanilla, and a touch of butterscotch. The finish is long and tart with citrusy notes of lemon zest and grapefruit.
