Abraham Bowman Double Barrel Bourbon. Image courtesy A. Smith Bowman Distillery. This Bourbon from Virginia’s A. Smith Bowman Distillery is matured for seven years and two months, with the final 11 months in new charred oak casks and a bit of rotation in the distillery’s warehouses to boost the air circulation.

The nose has notes of toasted oak, caramel, vanilla, honey, and a hint of nutmeg. The taste is peppery, intense, and strong with vanilla, honey, and toasted oak notes underneath. The finish is long and spicy with a good peppery note, and a hint of honey adds balance. (April, 2014)
