This week on WhiskyCast, we'll take a tour of Speyside's Benromach Distillery with distillery manager Keith Cruickshank. He's been there since the distillery re-opened in 1998, and remains one of only three stilton making single malt at Benromach without a single computer on the stillhouse floor.
In the news, a lawsuit has been filed against the maker of Silver Trail Distillery's still that exploded April 24th, and we have the first interview with Terry Wilhelm of Revenoor Stills since the explosion. Five of the nine people indicted last month in connection with the Kentucky Bourbon thefts appeared in court this week, and a tenth suspect has been indicted. Finally, we'll have a roundup of the week's new whiskies, including details on several Islay Festival bottlings.

For the first time, the still maker who built the Silver Trail Distillery's moonshine still that exploded April 24th is speaking publicly. Terry Wilhelm of Oregon's Revenoor Stills was criticized openly on the Silver Trail Facebook page and accused of taking the company into bankruptcy on the same day as the explosion. Silver Trail warned any other distillers using Revenoor stills to contact the Kentucky State Fire Marshal's office immediately.
Wilhelm said tonight in a telephone interview that the company has not filed for bankruptcy (which our search of the US Bankruptcy Court in Portland's docket confirms), but was shut down in February because of an intra-family dispute over the company's ownership. He said he has not been contacted by the Kentucky State Fire Marshal's investigators since the explosion, and has only spoken to one Kentucky-based attorney since then...but is willing to cooperate with the investigation.
You can read the entire story and listen to the interview with Terry Wilhelm at the WhiskyCast web site.
